Challenge
Challenge the barriers — systemic, social, and personal — that keep people from accessing the safety net, services, and support they deserve.
Community advocacy for fuller lives
Whether you’re finding your footing in a new country, navigating financial hardship, dealing with an unsafe situation at home, or simply trying to understand what help is available — you’re in the right place.
The Rest Of A Life exists so that you can live yours to the full.
The C.A.L.L. Framework
Challenge barriers, advocate for people, listen with care, and lend practical support.
Challenge the barriers — systemic, social, and personal — that keep people from accessing the safety net, services, and support they deserve.
Advocate for yourself and your neighbors. Know your rights. Speak up. Support others in doing the same.
Listen actively to those navigating difficult systems — without judgment, without rushing. Being heard is the first step to being helped.
Lend your support to someone in need. A referral, a ride, a conversation, a meal. Small acts build stronger communities.
About TROAL
The Rest Of A Life (TROAL) is a community advocacy organization dedicated to helping immigrant and under-resourced community members access the resources, support, and connections they need to thrive.
We began our work in domestic violence prevention — and that work taught us that safety, belonging, and economic stability are all part of the same story. Whoever you are and whatever you’re navigating, we’re here to help you live the rest of your life to its full potential.
Our Story
The Rest Of A Life began as a domestic violence organization. Our founding belief was simple: the world is short-changed when we lose a life — or when a life is diminished by violence and fear so that a person can no longer live at their full capacity.
Over time, our work revealed something we had already suspected: that the barriers keeping people from full, free lives are deeply connected. Domestic violence. Poverty. Immigration status. Language. Lack of access to the safety net. These are not separate problems. They are different faces of the same challenge.
So TROAL grew. Today, we work alongside immigrant and under-resourced community members — helping people find resources, navigate systems, advocate for themselves, and build the community connections that make a full life possible.
We still believe what we always believed: no one should have to simply survive. Everyone deserves to live — the rest of their life — to the full.
Mission Statement and Organizational Identity
To position community members — immigrants, under-resourced individuals, survivors, and neighbors — to advocate for themselves and each other, by connecting people to the safety net, resources, and support they need to live the rest of their lives to the full.
Communities in which every individual — regardless of origin, economic status, or circumstance — can live their life free from the barriers that prevent them from reaching their full potential.
TROAL helps immigrant and under-resourced community members find the support, resources, and community they need to thrive.
A community advocacy organization putting people on C.A.L.L. — to live the rest of their lives to the full.
Our Values
A society free of injustice is one in which no one is denied access to safety, services, or belonging based on who they are or where they come from. Justice is the foundation of everything we do.
When individual potential is not determined by gender, immigration status, or socio-economic circumstance, communities grow stronger. We work toward conditions where everyone can participate fully in civic and community life.
Every person’s worth is inherent and unconditional. No circumstance — economic hardship, immigration status, or experience of abuse — diminishes a person’s right to be treated with full respect.
No organization solves these challenges alone. We work alongside community members, service providers, faith communities, and employers to build the enabling environment that benefits us all.
